Coach Ralf Rangnick made a very strict assessment of the first half performance of Man United players in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the 1/8 Champions League round last night.

"The second half we played better, had more possession in the important areas and if we had played 10 more minutes we could have won. We had to play better in the first half. Overall I was very disappointed by the performance in the first half.
When we competed for the ball and when we had the ball, we were too afraid to take risks. We need to do what we've been doing in the last few weeks and for a team like Atletico we need to go deeper. The way we scored the goal was exactly that, a run from Anthony Elanga, a great pass. We won the ball in the middle of the pitch, and this is how we have to play against them," added the German strategist.
